In the studio: Beene shoes

Another stroll down memory lane—this time, just out of college and employed by the upscale luxury department store, Jones & Jones, in McAllen, Texas. I was hired to put together newspaper and magazine ads, and that included some fashion illustration. The best part was I could take the products home and do my sketching—and of course I always brought home shoes that were my size. This is a pencil drawing of Geoffrey Beene shoes.

In the studio: shoe study

I think I was in high school or early years of college when I drew this study of my (sturdy looking things, aren’t they?!) shoes. It was done with Conté crayons and charcoal on a sheet of Carson Mi-Tientes drawing paper.
