A Mourning dove has built her nest in a plant pot on the top of my gardening bench. You can see part of one of two babies to her right (black with white streaks). I can’t do my annual cleanup in that area until after flying lessons are given! Isn’t she pretty? (iPhone 6 with Snapseed2)

Trying my hand at an online store called Society6 to sell my photos on a variety of fun products! All images are available as unframed and framed prints as well as canvases, too, in a variety of different sizes.
I’ll be uploading more later, but there’s plenty to choose from now—prints (unframed, framed and canvas), iPhone/iPad/iPod cases, laptop skins, pillows, tote bags, and greeting cards.
I’m learning as I go and should be able to offer other products such as small area rugs, t-shirts, mugs and even shower curtains. I will be uploading more photos this week so check back often!

This is one of my favorite daffodil shots. I shoot the majority of my plant portraits in either overcast light or by diffusing the light with my tri-grip diffuser. On this day, the soft sunlight spoke to me and I let it illuminate my subject without any diffusion.

I recently turned these three images into a horizontal canvas (three images across) as a thank you gift to my sister-in-law Nancy and husband Pete, who hosted us at their home the weekend after the water lily stamp debut in Ohio. All of the images were shot with my iPhone 6. I used Snapseed to process them images and add the frames. I added the name in Photoshop for each pet.

It’s that time again! Time to get out your camera (and your macro lens, if you’re fortunate to have one!) and get out in the garden to start capturing images of early spring flowers. (And if you don’t have a tripod, please get one. As much as you may not like toting one around, they are instrumental in capturing really sharp macro images; trust me on this!)
In my front yard garden, I already have purple crocus in bloom and the Hellebores have been blooming since February (hardy and eager plants, those Hellebores!). The tulips will probably be in bloom in a couple of weeks.
In September 2011 I was interviewed and featured on the Nikonusa.com website about photographing gardens. Since the weather is getting warmer every day and early spring flowers are making their appearance in our part of the country, I thought I’d share the article and accompanying photos with you again! From the 2013 archives—this is my sister Debbie’s younger cat, Ruby. I prefer to call her “Roswell” (isn’t it obvious why?) or “Lemur Eyes” (again, obvious). I also call her “Alien Eyes.”

Rest in peace, my dear friend Fred Anzaldua. He was a part of our family for more than 20 years and will be missed more than words can say. He was the “host with most,” opening his home to celebrate my sister Debbie’s surprise 40th and 50th birthdays, and our mom and dad’s 70th birthdays. My dad called him “high pockets” because he was so tall. I shot this portrait of him several years ago and it’s how I will always remember him—that awesome head of hair, beautiful smile, boisterous laugh, spirit of hospitality to anyone who came to his house, and how he treated his friends. The world is a little less brighter today.
